Get a loan from MOVE for a new or used set of wheels. MOVE lets you borrow 100% of the purchase price plus insurance, so you don’t need a deposit. There’s very little paperwork and you can get a minimum loan of $10,000, up to a maximum loan of $100,000.

"I've never had a problem in 37 years."

If you need help finding a car, MOVE has partnered with Car Search Brokers Australia to help you find the car you want, at the right price, with minimal hassle with no cost for the service. You just tell them the type of car you're after and your budget. They'll search their buyer network of hundreds of new and used car dealerships, to find the vehicle that's right for you.

They’ll organise a roadworthy inspection, your trade-in and even negotiate with the seller for you. So you get the best price for your old vehicle and pay the right price for your new one.

Resources to help

Use the handy tools to calculate your loan repayments:

Things to consider when you're thinking about buying a car

Utilising the free buying service via MOVE

Our car buying service partner is free to use for MOVE members. They take the hassle out of hours of research and can help you with everything from payment to pick up.

Beware of dealer finance - it can be more expensive than it looks

Zero percent finance might sound enticing, but you should beware of dealer finance. Often the interest will be accounted for in the price of the vehicle, so the dealer isn't likely to be flexible on the price, or very generous with a trade-in offer.

Getting a roadworthiness inspection from your local automotive association

The car you are purchasing should have a roadworthy certificate to verify that it has passed a minimum safety standard inspection. You should not purchase a car without a roadworthy certificate.

Getting immediate insurance cover once you take ownership

If you have the keys in the ignition of your new car, you are too late. You should have insurance cover from the moment you take ownership of the car, i.e. the day you sign the forms.

Check your car does not have any unpaid debt

When you buy a vehicle from a car dealer you are guaranteed clear title.  This means you are assured that the previous owner does not owe money on the car.  When you buy a vehicle privately anywhere in Australia you can check the title yourself by doing a search via ppsr.com.au.  It's quick and easy and gives you peace of mind that the car your buying is free from any encumbrance.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Beware 0% finance

Zero or low-interest car loans are the latest promo from car manufacturers desperate for sales. When a car dealer offers you money for nothing, there must be a catch, right?

Yes there is, you often pay full retail price for the car and the trade in value is much lower.

So you may be better off taking a car loan from MOVE and negotiating thousands of dollars off the car price in the first place.

Roadworthy inspection

A Certificate of Roadworthiness is required when a vehicle is sold, if a used vehicle is to be re-registered or, in some cases to clear a vehicle defect. It is only issued by a licensed vehicle tester. The inspection is a check of the vehicle to ensure that key components have not worn or deteriorated and that the vehicle is safe for normal road use.

Buyers agent

Buyer’s agents (also known as ‘buyer’s advocates’) are licensed professionals that specialise in searching, evaluating and negotiating the purchase of cars or property on behalf of the buyer.
