There are a number of risks associated with traveling and having travel insurance means your covered for most, if not all of those risks.

Use pre-loaded travel cards to minimise exchange rate and transaction fees

Carrying cash ordinarily is not advisable, and is even more discouraged when traveling. To minimise risk and worry, you should use a pre-loaded travel card.

Smart Traveller is the Australian Government's official travel advice website. By registering your trip, you will be accounted for in case of emergency and can be in contacted quickly www.smarttraveller.gov.au.

Be smart about your personal information

You wouldn’t give your address out to a stranger on the street, so don’t put your home address on luggage tags. Rather, include a phone number and email address. The same goes for posting your trip details on social media - it is best to avoid this.

Consider alternate accommodation options

Many countries around the world require a Visa to be organised prior to entering the country. Visit the DFAT website to see whether you need to organise a Visa before your holiday.
